Why Are You the Way That You Are?

Why are you the way that you are? Why do you think and act the way that you do? Is there a reason why you behave the way that you do?

I intend to uncover the fascinating truth, the thought-provoking reality as to why you are the way that you are.

Here’s a truly fascinating truth.

You think in six areas at a time in the brain. One area out of six is where you think consciously, and five areas out of six are where you think unconsciously.

Furthermore, did you know that you have two minds, your conscious and subconscious mind?

The conscious mind is everything that you are aware of at any moment. The thoughts that you think moment by moment and day by day are through your conscious mind.

Your subconscious mind is everything else; everything that is outside of your awareness.

Almost all of your thinking is done by habit, or automatically, at the subconscious level.

Research says that ninety-five percent of your thinking is done at the subconscious level.

Your most powerful force on the face of the planet is your subconscious mind

The number of activities your three-pound subconscious mind undergoes, every moment of your life, is astonishing.

Did you ever want to remember a person’s name, yet you couldn’t consciously, and a few minutes later you remembered the name? The name did not appear out of anywhere. It was stored in your subconscious mind.

Has someone ever thrown a snowball at you, and you ducked to avoid it hitting you? Was that what you would call a ‘reflex reaction?’ You had no time to even think about ducking; you just did it.

You didn’t think, “Oh, my gosh. Here comes a snowball. It’s headed my way, right for my face. I’d better duck or else it’ll hit my face.” No. You ducked without the slightest moment of thinking.

How fast did you duck? Your subconscious mind was in control of that, too.

When you drive a car, do you think of the steps that are necessary to get you going: switch on the ignition, press the clutch, put it in first gear, look into the mirror, and so on?

Hardly. You just get in, close the door and your subconscious mind takes over.

Let’s take this a step further.

You approach a red traffic light. Do you say, “OK. I now have to slow down, gently press the brake, press the clutch so the car won’t stall, and I should stop before I hit the rear of the car in front of me.”

Very unlikely.

Your subconscious mind guides you to stop appropriately.

Looking at your emotions now.

When you’re put into a stressful situation, do you instruct your hands to sweat, and do you ask your heart to beat faster?

No.

Your subconscious mind does that for you, automatically.

Putting all this into perspective, your subconscious mind is one hundred percent responsible for everything that you do.

It allows you to breathe, it allows your heart to tick, it allows movement after a thought and so much more. And most impressively is that it does all these automatically.

Your subconscious mind is also a storehouse of anything you came into contact with.

It stores everything from the day you were born:

Your memories

Your feelings

Your thoughts

Your fears

Your habits

Your beliefs

Your behaviours

Anything you smelled, tasted, breathed, or touched

The almighty powerful subconscious mind stores all of the above and more.

When you want to move your right hand to scratch your left leg, do you instruct your hundreds of muscles to move in an orderly manner to perform such a task? No. You think you want to scratch the itch, and you do it… subconsciously.

Without any thinking.

Aside from these types of actions that your subconscious mind does, on automatic, to keep you alive, why is it important when it comes to you being successful, and why are you the way that you are?

What influence does it have on you?

What role does it play in you manifesting all that you desire: success in life, happiness, fulfilment, joy, great health, financial abundance?

Think about it.

Why are you the way that you are?

Why are you at the level of success that you are at? What role does your subconscious mind have on you? What influence does it have on you?

Your subconscious mind has almost full control over you.

Why are you the way that you are: Your conscious vs. your subconscious mind

Many people seem to accept the existence of the subconscious mind, yet they fail to realise and appreciate what it represents.

The subconscious mind is the warehouse of all that is concealed, all that remains undetected, invisible, and hidden; much of which is involuntary negative programming from childhood (which is why you attract what you are).

That programming that resides in your subconscious mind exerts massive power over how you see yourself, other people, and the rest of the world.

The subconscious can automatically influence your daily decisions and choices.

If you find yourself repeatedly making self-destructive decisions and choices, it is because you are on automatic; your subconscious mind is “running the show” based on its programming.

From day one, from the day you were born, you most likely heard a lot of negative words and suggestions directed at you (and around you), and being a baby and then an infant, not knowing any better, you accepted them as being true.

So you allowed the negativity to guide your life.

You allowed your sabotaging, destructive programming to run your life

A few examples of negative programming are:

“You’re so stupid.”

“You’re such a clumsy idiot.”

“What kind of an imbecile are you.”

“You’ll never amount to anything in life.”

Or how about the ones you repeatedly say to yourself:

“I’m such an idiot.”

“What a loser!”

“I’m such a freak.”

“I can’t do anything right.”

“I will never stop smoking.”

“Life sucks.”

These, and other negative programmings, reside in your subconscious mind; the mind where ninety-five percent of your thinking lies; the mind where you are on automatic.

In his book, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, Dr. Joseph Murphy says, “Within your subconscious depths lie infinite wisdom, infinite power, an infinite supply of all that is necessary.”

He goes on to say, “Once you learn the truth about the interaction of your conscious and subconscious minds, you will be able to transform your whole life.”

Your subconscious mind sees things eight hundred times faster than your conscious mind, and the thinking that takes place at your subconscious level takes place without your conscious awareness.

If through the years, your subconscious mind has been programmed that you are an impatient and impulsive person, no matter what you do consciously you will not be completely successful in changing yourself into becoming a patient and serene person.

The only way you can become patient and serene is by consciously re-programming your subconscious mind; you need to replace your old subconscious beliefs and habits with new, empowering, and positive beliefs and habits.

Also, realise that willpower is overrated. Your willpower is situated in your conscious mind, and so too are your desires and your self-discipline.

And when you think that your conscious mind represents only five percent of your brain’s thinking, and your subconscious ninety-five percent, which do you suppose is more powerful — willpower or your subconscious mind?

So, if you are attempting to achieve a certain goal, or if you are attempting to be a success at something using your willpower, you will fall short of achieving that.

Soon enough, at the conscious level, all hope is gone.

You stop trying to achieve your goal.

To achieve what you desire, you must engage your subconscious mind. Your willpower starts the action towards your objective, then your subconscious mind completes the action.

Your subconscious mind has the incredible power to get you the results that you desire in life.

It will call upon the most appropriate state of mind for any situation right when it is needed.

It never sleeps and never rests.

Whatever you impress on it, through repetition, you will experience. Once impressed, consider it achieved.

Your subconscious mind has the answer to all of your problems and through its power, you can have and be all that you desire

Why are you the way that you are: Your brain is a goal-setting organism

When you feel that all hope is gone, remember this:

The greatest and most exciting thing about your brain is that science of success experts have concluded that the brain is a goal-setting organism.

Now that’s exciting news.

No matter what goal you give to your subconscious mind, once the goal is programmed into your subconscious mind, it will work day and night, three hundred and sixty-five days a year, 24/7, to achieve that goal for you.

The amazing thing is that neuroscientists have learned ninety-nine percent about the brain in only the last twenty or so years. It has been said that scientists know more about Mars than the brain.

The biggest discovery the scientists made was that you do not need to waste your precious time trying to change old thoughts and old behaviours.

All that you have to do is create new thoughts and new behaviours.

Scientists have also discovered that you can continue to create new thoughts, new memories, new behaviours, new skills, and learn new things even when you reach the ripe old age of ninety-nine or more.

However, this presents a slight complication.

You now have to get rid of all your excuses.

Since you can acquire new skills and learn new things as long as you are alive, the old excuses that you currently possess are nothing but excuses that prevent you from growing and achieving.

They act as a defence mechanism to growth.

With this relatively new information, you now have to discard all your excuses:

“I’m not good at computers.”

“I’m too old to learn French.”

“I’m too old to learn how to drive.”

“I’m too old to start exercising.”

“It’s too late for me to learn to swim.”

“I can’t start a home business now.”

This should be great news for you.

Becoming successful is not impossible

Why are you the way that you are: There are no limits to what you can achieve

With the new discoveries, it has been scientifically proven that your capacity to achieve and be successful literally has no limits.

Your brain has the capacity to continually learn during your entire lifetime.

Your possibilities have no limits.

Your success has no limits

There is no limit on your capacity to achieve new things.

It makes no difference what your age is; you are capable of growing and learning anything new that you want to learn.

Your brain has the facility to achieve way beyond what was ever thought possible.

So now is the time for you to break out of your limited and restricted way of thinking, and start dreaming big dreams, start seeing big successes, and start imagining unlimited possibilities.

Becoming a success is a choice.

Every day, step-by-step, you may climb the mountain of success only if you’ve decided to do so; if you’re committed to accomplishing what others think is impossible.

Whatever you repeatedly and earnestly focus on consciously, your subconscious mind will automatically find the solutions in its memory bank, from its storage, on that subject. And it will send the solution to your conscious mind, to your awareness.

Even though your subconscious mind has enormous powers, it cannot tell the difference between anything real or anything imagined — which is why we get scared or cry at the movies.

And the beauty is we could use this to our advantage because everything is taken literally by the subconscious mind.

It will always develop a plan to realise your most dominant thoughts.

It never fails to produce one for you. Programming your subconscious mind is crucial to success.

Why are you the way that you are: The Strong-Arm That Controls Your Life

Why don’t you have what you want? How can you change to make things happen? What do you have to do to change? What do you have to do to change the quality of your life: to be successful, happy, joyful, healthy and fulfilled?

We learned about the brain and the subconscious mind, and how it is a goal-seeking mechanism, and its ability to make our goals a reality.

Now you may feel you are ready to set some goals and start taking action on them; you may feel ready to be a success.

The thing is, as you may have already discovered, is that this type of action, at this level, won’t last. Give it a week, a couple of weeks, perhaps a month, and then it’s gone.

Taking action reaches a screeching halt, and you scratch your head wondering where you went wrong.

Although there may be many reasons as to why your actions have stopped, the fact that you don’t believe in yourself and in your abilities to achieve such success may be what is wrong.

In other words, for you to be a success, you must address what is inside of you.

You must look at your beliefs and belief system.

With that in mind, back to the question at the beginning of this section: why don’t you have what you want? Why don’t you have your 5-bedroom home, a new Mercedes SL sports car, or a striving small business?

Why not?

Here’s something that you may not already know.

The reason you do not have what you want is not because of the current economy, not because of your parents, teachers, spouse, boss, friends, neighbours, or anyone or anything that is outside of you.

It is not your surroundings or environment.

So, why don’t you have what you want?

Have you sat down and truly wondered why you don’t have what you want? Have you ever questioned if there was an easier way to go through your “day-to-day life”; whether there was an easier way to live an enjoyable life, rather than struggling through it?

Most of us, at one point or another, felt that life was not all that it was cracked up to be; that it was in fact a great big royal pain. Perhaps that’s how you feel it is right now.

Truth is life does not have to be this way!

So what is the secret to being successful, to living a happy and fulfilling life? To have what you want.

What is the strong arm that controls your life?

The strong arm that controls your life is in your  mind.

By your mind, we are not referring to your conscious mind; not your daily passing, momentary thoughts of, “I want to lose weight” or “I want more money” or “I want that Mercedes SL” or the “I want a successful small business” whilst you are brushing your teeth.

The answer lies much deeper than that.

It is in a place where you rarely look. Your subconscious mind.

The secret to success lies deep within your subconscious mind

The answer to why are you the way that you are, and why you don’t have what you want lies buried within your subconscious mind.

If you are trying to achieve a goal, for example, of creating an extra income of $15,000 this year, and you aren’t achieving it, more than likely your subconscious mind is blocking you from achieving that goal because of a contradictory belief that it is holding.

In other words, you want something, and it doesn’t happen because your subconscious mind has different ideas about that.

Looking at another quick example, if, for instance, your success goal is to lose weight so you can look great in your wedding gown, and you say to yourself, “My goal is to lose weight before my wedding” and you walk past a bakery and say, “I want that doughnut” and you eat it, your goal has gone out of the window directly into your stomach.

So, what happened?

You said you want something and then you did the complete opposite.

Why is that?

You wanted to lose weight, but you ended up eating food that conflicts with your intention. You are saying one thing and you do the other; meaning that your subconscious habit took the better of you.

Your subconscious mind won. You ate the doughnut.

If you continue with this line of thinking for a while, the “I want to lose weight” conscious thinking, and you end up eating a large piece of the pie — because of your habitual, subconscious thinking — what will eventually happen is alarming.

Your subconscious mind will eventually ignore your conscious “requests” to lose weight.

It will eventually pay no attention to what you consciously want. It will take no notice of your goal.

And when your subconscious mind ignores your conscious goal, you end up not having what you want.

Let’s look at another important “want” or goal. If your goal is, “I want to consistently earn $5,000 per month” and immediately after you declare that goal you think, “I don’t deserve it” or “I am not worthy of $5,000 a month” or “I’ll have to work really hard to get that kind of money” or any such statement, what do you suppose will be the end result?

You will not get what you want.

You will not consistently earn $5,000 per month. If you do, it will be short-lived. It might happen one month here or there, but it won’t be consistent.

Why?

Because your subconscious mind has blocked you from having that kind of money because your limiting beliefs about consistently earning $5,000 per month contradict your “want” or goal.

Some limiting beliefs around money are:

Money doesn’t grow on trees

Do you think I’m made of money?

Oh, it’s too expensive

You have to have money to make money

Money is the root of all evil

I can’t afford that

Rich people are greedy / arrogant / selfish

Money is hard to come by

Money isn’t everything

Time is money

Money doesn’t buy you happiness

It’s all in a day’s work

And people wonder why they don’t have much money!

Why are you the way that you are: Your beliefs are the foundation of your reality

Your beliefs are the building blocks of your reality. They literally form and structure the boundaries of your world. Beliefs have the capacity and power to restrict or broaden your success, happiness, fulfilment, and everything in between.

Where do beliefs lie?

Beliefs reside within your subconscious mind.

In the example above, where you want to consistently earn $5,000 per month, the reason you probably won’t get that amount of money is because the beliefs that are held in your subconscious mind cancel out that goal.

That contradictory belief or conviction is by far more powerful than your ‘want.’ This contradictory, limiting belief has been running your life far longer than your present fleeting want.

It’s been engraved into your subconscious mind, and it will take a lot more than a mere ‘want’ to override it.

Having said that, there is great news for you.

When your beliefs are ‘on your side’ you can re-create yourself and your world; you can have a complete belief make-over.

You can choose the beliefs that you want to operate and manage your life.

Change your beliefs change your life.

When you identify the limiting beliefs that function as a blueprint of your reality, you can create new opposing ones. When you are free of the chains that are holding you back, you will live the life you want, and you can unlock the door to the world of success and abundance that is awaiting you.

Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings for you attract what you are

Keep in mind, your current beliefs, thoughts and feelings shape and dictate your life. Perhaps they have limited you to the point that you are stuck where you are now. So it makes sense to replace those old, sabotaging and limiting beliefs and instil powerful, positive and self-enhancing beliefs, doesn’t it?

Why are you the way that you are: How to identify a limiting belief

You are about to start to work on making your success goals a reality. If your success goal is to lose weight, to make an extra $5,000 within the next three months, or even to do something as simple as to register your company, your chance to make that happen starts now.

You are about to learn how to identify your limiting beliefs and be ready to establish powerful self-enhancing ones; how to be rid of those beliefs that have blocked you, that have obstructed you, that have stood in your way from achieving your aspirations, goals and even your dreams.

Here’s a simple way you can use to discover some of your sabotaging beliefs.

Sit back for a moment and think what is it that you want right now? Would you love to finish off any projects that you started? Would you love to have inner peace? Would you love to live a joyful and happy life?

Decide what you want and write it down.

When you considered or reflected upon that which you want right now, as you wrote it down, did you notice any thoughts such as, “Yes, but…”? Did you have any physical reactions or feelings, such as an uncomfortable sensation, or being aware of a headache coming up?

These reactions are signs of inner conflict; where you want something consciously, yet your beliefs want something else: the “Yes, buts…” beliefs. It is them that you have to eliminate or replace.

So, back to the question of, what is it that you want right now?

When you think about what it is that you want, how did you feel and what thoughts came up? Notice and pay attention to those thoughts and feelings.

Write them all down; every single one of them.

By doing this, you will un-earth some of the beliefs that have limited you from finishing off a task that you started, you will uncover why you cannot have inner peace, a joyful and happy life, the amount of money that you desire, the partner that you yearn for, the speedboat, the Jet Ski.

Whatever.

Being aware of the limiting beliefs that are the reason why you aren’t successful is a huge step forward to living your successful life by design.

You have to identify and be aware of the self-limiting beliefs that exist within your subconscious mind and eliminate or replace them.

In other words, consider how you want to live your successful life. Discover and explore the specific limiting beliefs that have restricted you, and go ahead and eliminate or replace them with self-enhancing beliefs that are necessary to help you be a success.

Tackle each and every limiting belief — one by one

More than likely, you have a mass of myths or limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind that you have ‘collected’ and ‘invented’ through the years.

That’s fine, that’s life.

Now you have the knowledge as to how to claim back the years gone by.

How to change your life in 30 days: If you tackle three beliefs a day, in a month you would have eliminated about ninety limiting, sabotaging beliefs. Just think of the changes you can accomplish in only a short month. What if you eliminate four limiting beliefs a day? Why not five? And it only takes minutes a day.

Your behaviour directly dictates the level of your success; whether it is to be successful at losing that stubborn ten pounds of weight, or to have that five per cent increase in your salary, or to remain motivated to continue to take action even when you feel down.

The level of your success is based upon your behaviours and actions, and your actions and behaviours are determined by how you feel. Every action that you take is first filtered through your feelings that also exist in your subconscious mind.

How you feel about something determines what you do and how well you do it

Your feelings are influenced by your attitudes; your attitude is your perspective from which you view life. Whatever attitude you have about anything will affect how you feel, which, in turn, effects how you act.

What you believe about anything will determine your attitude about it, which will create your feelings, and then will direct your behaviour and action.

Why are you the way that you are: Where do your beliefs come from?

Now that we’ve seen the importance of beliefs and how they control your level of success, let’s discuss where they come from.

Behind every behaviour or action is a belief. Your beliefs are just stories you tell yourself over and over again.

Were you born with beliefs? No. You learn and pick up beliefs. Your beliefs about money, success, health, your looks, your weight, are all acquired beliefs.

How are beliefs created?

Beliefs off all kinds were created by you, by the environment, your friends, parents, the media and circumstances.

As time went by, and through repetition, these beliefs became buried deep within the depths of your subconscious mind, and they became a part of you, and whether they are limiting or empowering, they become your reality.

The more a belief is reinforced it tends to convert from a belief into a habit, then the brain takes over this habit and does everything that is in line with that belief.

It becomes a subconscious habit.

It becomes automatic.

Beliefs that have been with you for years live in your subconscious mind.

Some of those beliefs may serve you well. They may be the reason why you are driven and successful in your career.

However, there are some beliefs that do not serve you well; they hold you back from achieving success in your relationships.

Beliefs are what propel you forward to success or keep you standing still.

If you are living a life that you don’t want, you must look at are your beliefs.

Your beliefs are created and influenced by your thoughts

Your thoughts are real. They are powerful. Everything you feed yourself from within, through your thoughts, is reflected into your outer world. So it is imperative that you learn to have discipline over and direct your thoughts.

And when you do, you will have better control of your beliefs, your attitudes, your feelings and consequently your actions.

Realise that the way you are living today is a direct consequence of the decisions and choices you have made up to this point in time; the judgments and evaluations that you elected by your thoughts.

You will create your future in the same way.

You have in your life today exactly what you have created. And you have created it all by your own thoughts — by what you kept telling yourself all these years.

One of the keys to success, joy and fulfilment is to accept the fact that you can control your thoughts. And when you do so, those empowering thoughts will turn into self-enhancing beliefs which, once embedded deep within your subconscious mind, will make success, joy and fulfilment a reality.

You will lose those extra stubborn pounds, you will have the five per cent increase in salary, you will be great in your acting debut, you will feel full of self-confidence in that seminar you are presenting.

Your new life starts the moment you decide to assert control over yourself; over your thoughts, your feelings and your behaviours. And when you change or replace your limiting, sabotaging beliefs.

Why are you the way that you are: What do you have to do to change the quality of your life?

It all starts with making a decision. All decisions shape your actions, and it is action that creates the results you want in your life. Action pushes you in the direction of change.

For you to change, you must take action and look at your thoughts

Some people never succeed because it never occurs to them that they can do it. They don’t believe that they can do it, so they don’t bother.

Your limiting beliefs make you act pretty much like a ‘robot,’ operating almost completely in the ‘unconscious mode,’ with the conscious mind ‘switched off.’

To get the outcome that you want, you have to put your conscious thoughts in charge, and then create effective communication to your subconscious mind, telling it, through repetition, what goal you want to achieve.

When you repeatedly disclose to your subconscious mind what you really want, it tends to respond eagerly.

It goes into first gear, and heads in the direction that you have instructed it; so long as you are very clear and specific as to what you want.

When you are clear and specific your subconscious mind will have no more guesswork. No more hit or miss. It knows what you want and does its best to get it for you.

As we shared with you a bit earlier, your subconscious beliefs and habits preside over what you normally do in any given situation; having you act like a ‘robot’ — on automatic.

Let’s say you want to mow the lawn next Saturday, or you want to decorate your flat or home, perhaps even take your children to the park, and when that day comes you changed your mind.

You started off by having your usual lie-in, and then you had your late breakfast, possibly watched some television, and chatted to a friend over the phone.

Once in a while you remembered what you wanted to do and you casually said to yourself that you’ll do it later, it’s still early, there’s plenty of time. Or maybe you got side-tracked and forgot what you wanted to do.

Soon enough, time has flown by, and you had to get ready to meet your friends at the sports bar, or your friends came over for dinner, or maybe you got tickets for the theatre.

What happened here? Why didn’t you do what you planned to do?

You were on automatic mode. Your subconscious mind ruled the day.

For months or maybe years your Saturdays were ‘lazy, I do nothing days.’ So why should that Saturday be any different? You are subconsciously living the life that you have programmed yourself to live by the beliefs that you have created or were created for you.

Perhaps you always believed that Saturdays were lazy and fun days — no work days. Your father has always had Saturdays off, and he made sure that day is always a family day. You’d cuddle up and watch an afternoon movie, go to the park, play sports, support your favourite football team.

Saturdays were lazy and fun days. That’s what it’s always been. You’ve grown up living that way and believing that to be so. You are not supposed to mow the lawn, decorate the flat or home. They’re not lazy and fun activities. They’re hard work, and hard work is not done on Saturdays.

So there was a conflict between what you wanted to do and what is a habit, a belief: Saturdays are lazy and fun days. The work you wanted to do did not get done because you were on automatic.

Your limiting beliefs are by far more influential and potent than your ‘want’ or willpower

Why are you the way that you are: You’ll see it when you believe it

It is imperative to recognise the importance and value of getting your conscious and subconscious minds working together, as part of the same team, each with its individual role to play.

Your conscious and subconscious minds should be ‘on the same page’ so to speak to get what you want.

To get the outcome that you want, you have to put your conscious thoughts in charge, and then you create effective communication to your subconscious mind, telling it through repetition what goal you want to achieve.

How can you get the almighty, subconscious mind, to work with you to bring about all the changes that you want? How can you manifest your goals and live the life you want without having your limiting beliefs standing in your way, obstructing each step that you take?

How can you re-programme your subconscious mind so you don’t remain stuck where you are now?

Wouldn’t it be great if you could DO the things you WANTED to do on automatic, rather than the things you do NOT want to do?

Instead of automatically sabotaging your success goals, why not automatically achieve your success goals?

Rather than reaching for that fat-filled cake, why not automatically reject it, if your goal is to lose weight? And reject it without feeling that you are missing on something really scrumptious.

And what about automatically getting up in the morning feeling optimistic, rejuvenated and happy to start a brand-new day? Or automatically and confidently making that sales cold call?

So what do you do to do things automatically?

You’ll see it when you believe it.

We have already established the importance of aligning your conscious and subconscious minds. To do so, you have to replace or let go of the sabotaging, limiting beliefs.

That’s the only way you can achieve all your aspirations and goals.

Let me give you an analogy. Did you feel you lacked the self-confidence and felt scared when you first started to learn to drive a car? Where you scared that you will never grasp the concept of changing gears, controlling the steering wheel and being aware of everything around you?

Did you feel anxious when your driving lesson was on a rainy day? Was the whole idea of driving a car daunting?

You might have strolled to the car thinking, “Yeah, I can do this,” then when you sat down in the driver’s seat you started to sweat, and your heart was beating faster. Halfway through the lesson you had a headache from all that concentration.

What was happening here was that your limiting beliefs were controlling your emotions and feelings. Your lack of self-confidence and fear were so strong that you sent a direct message to your subconscious mind that you do not feel safe driving.

That driving scared you.

That’s why you had the sweaty palms and the headaches. They were all signs of discomfort. Your subconscious mind was warning you that driving is unsafe for you, since you associated fear and lack of self-confidence with driving.

But you wanted to drive. It was very important to you, and you made it a goal that you must achieve and you persistently and repeatedly went out to drive despite of your fear and lack of self-confidence.

In due time, you learned to change gears, look in the rear-view mirror, turn the steering wheel, signal, brake all on automatic. You emerged out of that stuck state of fear and no self-confidence as a winner.

This repeated persistence created a new belief that has become a new subconscious habit; the habit that you can operate all devices in the car automatically, without conscious thinking.

You collapsed your limiting beliefs.

You’ll see it when you believe it. You believed you’ll drive no matter what. What you believed, you saw, and you achieved.

And your ‘automation’ goes even further.

If a dog suddenly jumps in front of your car, will you go, “Hmm, that blasted dog came out of nowhere, and it is right in my path. If I slam on the brakes now, I might just stop in time …”

Or would you, without any conscious thinking or effort, slam hard on the brake pedal? More than likely, you would slam the brake pedal without a moment’s hesitation.

Now that’s driving on full automatic.

The procedure of driving a car became embedded within your subconscious mind, much the same as having learned to ride a bike or swimming or the order in which you get dressed.

The belief or habit pattern is forever within your subconscious mind. Never to be removed. Unless you decide you want it removed!

Of course, learning to drive a car is much simpler than ‘consistently earning $5,000 per month.’

But the process is the same: eliminate or replace the limiting beliefs and instil self-enhancing beliefs. Eliminate your stubborn limiting beliefs, your subconscious habit patterns that automatically block you, that put up fierce resistance to you achieving your goal.

You’ll see it when you believe it.

It is time to learn a very simple, yet powerful way, to eliminate or replace those nagging, limiting beliefs. The methods by which you can eliminate, reduce or neutralise limiting beliefs are plentiful; though some are more powerful than others.

They are not ‘one method fits all.’ A method may work for you but not for someone else. Yet, you won’t know until you give a method a fair chance; at least for fourteen days to see if it’s suitable, effective or not.

Here goes:

Step one: Always and forever remember — your feelings are the language of your subconscious mind. Feelings can be your allies for identifying limiting beliefs, and for instilling and strengthening new self-enhancing beliefs.

Step two: Do you remember how to laugh hysterically? Good!

Step three: Sit back in your chair, uncross your arms and legs, and close your eyes. Take in a deep breath through your nose, hold it for the count of five, and breathe out through your mouth. Again, take in a deep breath, hold it for five seconds and breathe out. Loosen your shoulders, and totally and completely relax.

Step four: Think of one limiting belief that you have and want to eliminate. Hold an image of that belief in your mind. Hold it there and feel the emotion. Feel it strongly and deeply. Feel what this limiting belief has cost you; how it stopped you from achieving your goal. Feel the pain. Keep that image in your mind and really feel the pain as intensely as you possibly can.

Step five: Keep your eyes closed and laugh as wholeheartedly as you can. Hold the image of that limiting belief in your mind and laugh, laugh and laugh. Spend the next five minutes laughing while keeping that image in your mind; that limiting belief that is not supporting your goal.

When five minutes have passed open your eyes, and test how you feel about that belief. Bring up the image and think about it.

More than likely it has no effect on you anymore. If it does, repeat the process until it is eliminated completely.

Laugh off all the limiting beliefs that stand in your way.

Does laughing off your limiting beliefs work? Sure it does. We all know that laughter is the best medicine in the world and that it cures many illnesses and uplifts the worst of moods. It can have the same effect on beliefs.

Now it is up to you!

Do not allow your limiting beliefs to stand in the way of the success that you desire. Life is fantastic, brilliant and breath-taking. There is beauty all around you. Think it, believe it, live it and you will thoroughly enjoy every moment of the rest of your life.

You will see success when you believe it.
